An over-toilet model must clear the toilet pan and surrounding fittings. Combined shower commodes also need corrosion-resistant construction and compatibility with the shower floor and drainage.
Match the equipment to the traveller and accommodation
Measure seat height, seat width and depth, overall width, bathroom doorway and the space around the bed or toilet. Explain whether side or frontal transfers are used and whether removable or drop-down arms are essential. Check safe working load, aperture shape, back support, footrests and the availability of an appropriate bucket and lid.

Is a wheeled commode the same as a shower chair?
Some products are designed for both purposes, but many are not. Confirm that the exact model is suitable for wet use and that its wheels, brakes and frame work safely on the shower surface.
