Useful accessibility information must describe the actual journey, not rely on a single “accessible” label. Our method combines first-hand experience, current primary sources and clearly stated limitations.

Evidence we prioritise

  1. First-hand operational knowledge: named streets, promenades, gradients, delivery conditions and recurring traveller problems known from Mobility Abroad’s work.
  2. Primary current sources: airports, airlines, rail and local transport operators, municipalities, official tourism bodies and the responsible venue or service. Examples include Aena’s PRM assistance information, Renfe and Adif assistance information and Spain’s official accessible-beach guidance.
  3. Open geographic data: mapping and location facts may be used where their licence permits reuse. OpenStreetMap-derived data will carry the required attribution and licence notice.
  4. Direct confirmation: measurements, photographs and written answers supplied for the exact room, vehicle, equipment model or travel date.

Accessible Resort Index method

The planned Mobility Abroad Accessible Resort Index will assess separate, observable dimensions rather than declare a resort universally accessible. The proposed dimensions are everyday terrain and gradients; continuity of pedestrian routes; accessible beach services; public transport and airport connections; accommodation evidence; local mobility-equipment coverage; and the availability of accessible toilets, healthcare and practical amenities.

Each score will show its evidence date and source coverage. “Unknown” will be used where the evidence is inadequate. Commercial relationships will not raise a destination or provider score.

What we do not do

We do not copy or lightly rewrite competitors’ guides, hotel reviews or protected databases. Those sources may identify a question that needs checking, but publishable facts are verified against an original or primary source wherever possible. We do not infer that every room, route or traveller will have the same experience.

Dates, corrections and historical knowledge

Seasonal services and facilities change. Guides therefore carry review dates and, where appropriate, source notes. Historical first-hand experience is labelled and checked against current evidence before it is presented as current fact. Readers and responsible organisations may report a correction through the contact route on this website.

Commercial links

Affiliate links and paid provider placements are labelled. They help fund the site but do not buy a favourable finding. Read the provider listing policy and affiliate disclosure.
