Resort access

North Mallorca for accessible holidays: Alcúdia, Playa de Muro and Pollensa compared

Compare the long bay resorts of Alcúdia and Playa de Muro with Port de Pollença and historic Pollença before choosing accommodation and equipment.

North Mallorca contains several very different holiday environments within a relatively small area. Port d’Alcúdia and Playa de Muro share a long bay; Port de Pollença has its own waterfront and atmosphere; historic Alcúdia and Pollença bring character but more demanding streets and surfaces.

Port d’Alcúdia: facilities around a broad resort

Port d’Alcúdia combines marina, resort accommodation, restaurants and the start of a very long beach. It can work well when the hotel, promenade and everyday facilities form a compact route. The resort extends inland, however, and a property using “Alcúdia” in its name may be in the old town, port or farther along the bay.

Alcúdia City Council’s accessibility project describes a universally accessible area at Alcúdia beach near the lifeguard station. Use the official Alcúdia for everyone information to confirm current facilities and contact details.

Playa de Muro: long beach, spread-out accommodation

Playa de Muro continues along the bay with large hotels and apartment complexes. Sections can appear level and straightforward, but distances are easily underestimated. Check which sector the property occupies, whether the usable entrance faces the main road or beach side, and the exact route to restaurants, shops and the nearest accessible beach service.

A larger complex may include internal ramps, boardwalks or changes of level. Obtain a continuous route video to the room, pool and dining areas. Sand and boardwalk transitions also need separate consideration from street access.

Port de Pollença: a different waterfront base

Port de Pollença sits on its own bay and offers a waterfront routine distinct from the Alcúdia coast. The central promenade may suit measured outings, but accommodation spreads around the port and towards outlying areas. Ask about kerbs, pavement widths, tree roots and crossings on the precise route.

Historic Alcúdia and Pollença town

Old walls, traditional streets, paving and gradients give these towns their character. They should be assessed as planned visits, not assumed extensions of a beach-resort route. A suitable taxi or adapted vehicle can conserve energy and battery for the part of the town that matters most.

Choose the resort before choosing the room

Priority Starting point to investigate
Long beach and established resort services Port d’Alcúdia or Playa de Muro
Waterfront town atmosphere Port de Pollença
Historic streets and culture Alcúdia old town or Pollença, with transport planning
Daily independent scooter use The exact level route and charging arrangement, whichever resort is chosen

Mobility-equipment support in the north

Confirm that the supplier covers the exact address—not simply “Mallorca”. Easy Rider Mobility Hire, a long-standing Mobility Abroad contact, serves specified northern and eastern Mallorca resorts. Its complimentary placement appears only where its declared delivery area applies; travellers should still check the model, availability, price and suitability directly.

Read the relevant Alcúdia destination guide, Playa de Muro guide and Alcúdia mobility-hire guide.

Airport transfer and delivery timing

Palma Airport is a substantial road transfer from the north. Tell the operator about every chair or scooter and whether the passenger remains seated in their wheelchair. Coordinate the estimated arrival with equipment delivery, especially for a private apartment without a staffed reception.

Before committing

  • Identify port, beach sector or historic town precisely.
  • Trace the continuous route to daily facilities.
  • Confirm exact-room and bathroom measurements.
  • Reserve the correct airport transfer vehicle.
  • Obtain equipment delivery and breakdown arrangements in writing.
