Planning the resort, accommodation and mobility equipment together creates a more independent holiday.

The Almería coast combines a compact provincial capital, purpose-built beach resorts, traditional fishing towns and the striking dry landscapes of south-eastern Andalucía. Roquetas and Aguadulce differ markedly from the elevated white village of Mojácar and the more dispersed Levante Almeriense coast.

Which part should you choose?

Almería city offers the seafront, central avenues, museums and views of the Alcazaba. Roquetas de Mar has long resort districts and a broad coastal promenade; Aguadulce centres on its marina and beach. Farther east, Mojácar Playa, Vera Playa and Garrucha provide distinct bases for exploring the Levante Almeriense.

Terrain and realistic accessibility

Waterfront sections can be comparatively level, but distances are substantial and summer heat is a serious planning factor. Mojácar Pueblo is steep and should never be confused with Mojácar Playa. Eastern villas and apartment developments may have sloping internal roads or incomplete pedestrian links.

No coast or town is universally accessible. Check the continuous route needed by the individual traveller, including crossings, gradients, surfaces, shade and accessible toilets.

Accommodation planning

Choose a self-contained hotel or a genuinely central coastal district when independent access matters. Verify shade, charging, the external route and proximity to food and pharmacy. A low-rise apartment can still have steps or an inaccessible pool enclosure.

Airports and accessible transfers

Almería Airport is the nearest gateway, although some packages use Málaga or Murcia for particular resorts. The resulting road journey can change the suitability and cost of a transfer considerably. Pre-book accessible vehicles and describe all equipment.

Mobility scooter and wheelchair hire

Specialist suppliers cover wide territories, so delivery and replacement times must be established for the exact resort. Heat, long promenades and exposed routes reduce comfortable range; preserve a generous battery reserve and a taxi alternative.

Use the individual resort guides

The guides below separate towns and resort districts that are often grouped together in brochures. Each covers local terrain, accommodation questions, transport and equipment delivery.
