Torremolinos combines a long coastal strip with a town centre on substantially higher ground. Mobility equipment can transform a holiday here, but the difference between a beachfront hotel and an uphill property is significant.

Book early enough to discuss the user and the holiday rather than accepting whichever scooter remains available. Give the provider the user’s weight, height, mobility, balance and transfer ability; the full accommodation address; lift and doorway measurements; and the routes the equipment is expected to cover.
La Carihuela, Bajondillo and Playamar provide long seafront sections. Routes between the coast and central Torremolinos can include pronounced slopes, lifts or stepped alternatives, so a map distance alone is misleading. A lightweight scooter may fit a lift but struggle on a steep hotel approach. Give the supplier the gradient and intended routes and ask for a model recommendation in writing.

For a powered wheelchair, provide posture, control, weight, seat-width and transfer information. Confirm battery range, joystick position, charging and whether the chair can be transported in the intended transfer vehicle. A mobility scooter is not a substitute for a powerchair when the user needs postural support or cannot transfer safely.
Hoists, commodes and shower equipment
Clinical or personal-care equipment requires more than a product name. For a mobile hoist, confirm safe working load, leg clearance beneath the bed or chair, turning space and the correct compatible sling. For shower chairs and commodes, record seat width, arm arrangement, brakes, aperture, overall dimensions and the bathroom doorway and shower threshold.
Ask an appropriate occupational therapist or clinician for advice where the traveller’s needs are complex. The hire provider should not guess a sling or transfer method from a short telephone description.
Where to stay and use the equipment
Choose accommodation around the daily routine: La Carihuela for restaurants and promenade access, Playamar for the eastern beachfront, or the centre when rail and town facilities matter more.
Request current photographs or video of the external approach, entrance threshold, reception route, lift, bedroom and bathroom. Confirm that the hotel permits the selected equipment and identify an agreed charging location that does not obstruct a corridor or fire exit.
Delivery to a hotel, apartment or villa
Likely arrival gateway: Málaga Airport. Ask the supplier to identify any delivery surcharge and whether an engineer can reach the exact district seven days a week. A driver should demonstrate charging, freewheel mode and the isolation control.
Write the arrival date and local handover time unambiguously. Provide a mobile number that works abroad and keep the provider’s number with the travel documents. Inspect the equipment during handover, photograph existing damage and ask for a demonstration before signing.
