The Costa Blanca runs through Alicante province and includes very different holidays: Benidorm’s large resort infrastructure, Alicante’s compact city waterfront, northern marina towns and the broad residential coast around Torrevieja. Choosing the right town is more important than choosing the coast in general.
Which part should you choose?
Benidorm has the greatest concentration of entertainment, hotels and mobility providers. Alicante combines Postiguet Beach, the Explanada and marina with city attractions. Albir offers a quieter seafront; Altea has a level lower promenade and a steep historic upper town; Calpe is divided by the Peñón de Ifach; Dénia and Jávea each contain separate port, beach and old-town districts. Villajoyosa, Moraira, Santa Pola, Guardamar and Orihuela Costa provide further alternatives.
Terrain and realistic accessibility
Long urban promenades can be useful, but the northern Costa Blanca becomes hillier and more broken into coves. Resort names often cover large municipal areas. Benidorm’s seafront is not representative of Rincón de Loix or every inland street, while a Jávea or Orihuela Costa address can be several kilometres from the facilities shown in holiday photographs.
No coast or town is universally accessible. Check the continuous route needed by the individual traveller, including crossings, gradients, surfaces, shade and accessible toilets.
Accommodation planning
Select the district before comparing properties. Ask for the exact entrance, lift and bathroom measurements and trace the route to restaurants, pharmacy, beach access and transport. Apartment developments require particular checks for gates, ramps, internal slopes and key collection.
Airports and accessible transfers
Alicante–Elche is the principal airport. Valencia can be relevant for the far north and Región de Murcia Airport for some southern addresses. Confirm the actual arrival airport, occupied-wheelchair requirements, equipment dimensions, luggage and the usable accommodation entrance.
Mobility scooter and wheelchair hire
The region has an established hire market, but coverage and breakdown response are local. Obtain the exact model, complete delivered price, safe-gradient advice, charging plan and replacement terms. A provider serving Benidorm may not offer the same response in Dénia or Orihuela Costa.
Use the individual resort guides
The guides below separate towns and resort districts that are often grouped together in brochures. Each covers local terrain, accommodation questions, transport and equipment delivery.
