Planning the resort, accommodation and mobility equipment together creates a more independent holiday.

A town for a seaside routine

Torre del Mar offers the appeal of an established seaside town on the eastern Costa del Sol. Spain’s official tourism information highlights its promenade, beaches and Casa Larios. It is a place to consider when you want meals out, everyday shops and time beside the Mediterranean to form the holiday, rather than relying on a different organised excursion each morning.

Base the search around your daily route

Start with the accommodation entrance and work out a realistic loop: breakfast or shopping, a waterfront outing, a toilet stop and the return journey. Promenade access can be more useful than a room described simply as “central”. Ask the host to photograph the complete entrance route, including kerbs and any internal courtyard. For a scooter, the narrowest lift doorway and the space to turn out of it matter just as much as its advertised capacity.

Distinguish waterfront and beach access

The promenade is a visitor attraction in its own right, but reaching a beach does not confirm access to the water. If assisted bathing is important, obtain the location, operating period and equipment details from the local service before choosing where to stay. Check whether you must bring a companion and how you will reach a suitable toilet. Keep an alternative seafront plan for days when beach assistance or sea conditions prevent the intended activity.

Exploring beyond the seafront

Treat an inland excursion as a fresh access assessment. A coastal mobility route does not establish the suitability of historic streets elsewhere in the municipality. Ask about drop-off distance, steps and seating at each stop. On arrival, have the equipment supplier demonstrate charging and the breakdown procedure at the actual accommodation; store their local telephone number offline before setting out.

Put the plans together

Use our holiday-apartment checks and flight and transfer planning guide before paying. If you need hired equipment, agree the model, delivery address and replacement arrangements directly with the supplier.
