Independent accessibility guide

Corralejo

Keep Corralejo’s town stay, the dunes and any boat excursion as separate access plans when arranging your holiday.

Planning the resort, accommodation and mobility equipment together creates a more independent holiday.

A town base beside a striking landscape

Corralejo is a northern Fuerteventura holiday base beside one of the island’s best-known natural landscapes. The nearby park is known for dunes and contrasting volcanic terrain. A stay here can combine time in town with a carefully organised outing to see that landscape, without making crossing sand a requirement of the holiday.

Choose everyday convenience in town

Compare the exact accommodation entrance with the shops and restaurants you intend to use. A property advertised for Corralejo may be outside your preferred daily area. Ask whether the route has continuous pavements and convenient crossings, and how a wheelchair or scooter reaches the unit from reception. If you need a shower chair or hoist, agree delivery access to the room rather than accepting a promise to leave the item at reception.

The dunes need a different plan

Ordinary wheelchairs and scooters should not be assumed suitable for the dunes or loose beach sand. Identify an intended viewpoint or managed beach access and ask the local service about its current arrangements. A short distance on a map can still be an impassable stretch of sand. For an excursion, request details of the vehicle, stop locations and time spent outside it; “panoramic tour” does not specify those requirements.

Harbour visits and longer days

If a boat outing is part of the plan, obtain confirmation for the particular sailing, vessel and boarding method. Do not extend a general claim about the harbour to every passenger boat. For an independent day in town, carry the supplier’s contact number and keep a battery reserve. Coastal exposure and changes of surface can make the real journey different from an indoor demonstration. A first short outing gives you a chance to check comfort and handling before committing to a longer route.

Put the plans together

Use our holiday-apartment checks and flight and transfer planning guide before paying. If you need hired equipment, agree the model, delivery address and replacement arrangements directly with the supplier.
